2024 Summer Conservation Intern

Hourly Salary: Starting at $18.00
Status: Seasonal, Internship
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, for a maximum of 28 hours per week, up to 480 hours total (May- August 2024) with education programs primarily held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This schedule may be modified, increased or reduced by the District Director for workload, school, conflicts, and/or special needs. Person in this position may also be required to attend night or weekend meetings/events. Lunch is a ½ hour, unpaid.
Reports To: Daily supervision is assigned by the District Director. Program specific supervision is received from the Education & Volunteer Specialist.
Duties Include:

Assist in public conservation education and outreach activities and programs/events as needed.

Participate in the following summer programs: kid’s camp, creeking, and fair.

Assist with monthly BEST Volunteer programs.

Assist as needed with Butler County Stream Team and Storm Drain Labeling.

Take photos at SWCD events for the District to use for annual reports, videos, promotion, advertising, etc. Keep photos organized on computer database.

Write articles and blog posts for the District’s publications.

Assist with creating videos for Butler SWCD that further promotes conservation.

Attend various events, meetings and workshops, sometimes outside of normally scheduled hours.

Assist in various duties and tasks as assigned.
Skills required:
-
Taking coursework or interested in natural resources, education, communications, or other related fields.

Possess excellent communications skills, written and oral, with an ability to work with a variety of audiences.

Ability to speak in front of groups, lead activities and work with kids of all ages.

Capable working outdoors and in all weather conditions.

Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
-
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, Publisher, and Excel.

Valid driver’s license.

If required, ability to pass background check.
